Last week, I was lucky enough to be invited to the La Redoute UK Press Day in London, where they showcased their new Spring Summer collection to bloggers, stylists and journalists.
The venue was at the Ice Tank Studios in Covent Garden and opened the doors at 3pm Thursday 23rd January. There were a number of collections, beautifully laid out on rails throughout the two floors.
From the La Redoute collections, there were three trends showcased; Tropicana, In The Detail and Boy Meets Girl.
First up, Tropicana – the theme of the event. A favourite piece with most of the attendees (and the La Redoute staff, I noticed!) was the fifties style printed dress for £65.00 by Laura Clement. A stunning blend of emerald and lime green leaves on a navy background. Very flattering and very now.
‘In The Detail’ consisted of everything from knitwear to dresses to shoes and was the most feminine of the collections – my favourite. Too many nice items to choose from, such as dainty flower print trousers and lace detailed dresses, but I just adored the delicate nude pink knitwear on show with jewel detailed shoulders (you can view it here and buy for only £17 at the mo).
The Boy Meets Girl collection saw a wide range of clothing and materials, all with a clean cut style. I liked the cigarette trousers; especially the white ones by Laura Clement. There were also some lovely denim dresses and shirts and a stunning pale blue/grey leather biker jacket by Soft Grey.
Aside from these delightful pieces, La Redoute were introducing their four new guest designers to bloggers and press. The designers for SS14 are Cedric Charlier, Gat Rimon, Paul & Joe Sister and Delphine Manivet.
Paul & Joe Sister was a big hit with the bloggers, as I noticed many tweets and Instagram pics on the train home of the famous cat prints. I’m not a cat lover myself, but this shirt is just toooo cute!
This white dress by Delphine Manivet was also a big hit with all attendees – so feminine and classic and very French.
I had my eye on this peach zip up coat by Mademoiselle R. As did many others, as it had a number of ‘wanted’ tags placed on it (we were tasked with adding tags to our fave pieces upon arrival).
Overall, it was a great day for me. A real insight into the top pieces and key trends for SS14, plus viewing the pieces on the mannequins displayed to me how French style really is made easy with La Redoute. Although, I love receiving their catalogue and browsing with a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning, it’s often that some key pieces and great finds are overlooked. This event picked out the best so I now know exactly what I need to order!
Here’s a few more pics for you to view the best of SS14…x
