Pastels - Spring 2012

Spring 2012 – Soft Focus Fashion

0

I’ve been so excited reading my favourite magazines lately, as they are full of fashion and make-up looks which I have loved and adopted as my style for years, so to see them truly come to fashion makes me smile (yes, easily pleased).

Spring 2011 saw a hint of pastels in the form of florals and lace, but they come to light more so in 2012 coupled with a few dashes more of white, and yet even more softness with a powdery feel.

The key item that you will see as being most prominent in mags and blogs,is the pastel skinny jean. Late last summer, I bought some bright coral Diesel skinny jeans (bargain at £20 from TK Maxx) but never actually dared to wear them outside my own home! Now, I adore the new pastel jeans and am a fairly confident girl but I am really unsure whether I would be brave enough to wear baby pink jeans to work or shopping in Leeds! Perhaps on holiday, somewhere like Italy teamed with patent nude heels, a white vest and a hot man – sorry…getting carried away!

You can still embrace the pastel trend without having to be too brave. If there’s a trend I love but think it may not be around too long or perhaps I am not feeling very wealthy, I always just buy a few accessories and add to a classic outfit. For example, cute mint socks or a pretty lilac scarf can instantly update your classic blue jeans and white vest look – even one of Models Own pastel nail colours can bring you up to trend. Or, for a more toned down look for work, pale grey/silver looks gorge with nude, peach or a pale strawberry shade.

For clothes, the key pastels colours include faded shades of rose, coral, purple, lemon, blue and green teamed with light greys or tan/beige shades. For make-up, you just need to be a little careful as certain pastel lipsticks or eye and cheek colours can wash you out and make you look pasty. So, you have two choices – either pick carefully or tan! Now I love my weekly fake tanning sessions and am pretty dark skin toned anyway, so don’t need to worry too much but there are certain baby pink blushers that make me look more poorly than pretty. I think the key is to test on the back of your hand and look for shades that make your tone look brighter not greyer.

I will be filming a Spring 2012 make up look/how to video once all must have items have hit the stores; until then here’s my 2011 one to give you an idea of what to expect http://youtu.be/l9Td_hu1E_s

Enjoy! And let me know what your fave pastel item is for this Spring; whether its clothes, accessories or make up x

Happy New Year!

1

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to post a little Happy New Year message to you all :-)

Hope you’ve all had a great Christmas and gained some nice beauty products to play with? Tell me what you got…

2010 was the year I started out in the world of blogging! Launched in late Summer, I started posting my You Tube videos on here and the odd make-up tip. From there, it’s escalated quite a bit and I now have companies sending me products to try, review and offer tips on – who’d have thought?!

I’m entering 2011 with a heap of enthusiastic energy! I’ve started the year with a newly designed website (what do you think of the nude colour scheme?) and a company logo. I wanted to give my site more of a personality and offer companies and followers an image to identify me with too.

I have lots planned for 2011, including more videos and potential partnerships with my fave brands!

I’d love to hear what more you’d like to see though….any particular brands I’ve not talked about? Or perhaps you fancy a forum on here to get chatting? Whatever you want, just let me know :-)

I wouldn’t have got here without you though, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, watching, re-tweeting and following! Thank You! x

Dr Marten Boots

Dr. Marten prescribed for me!

I’ve been feeling under the weather, but am now much, much happier after winning a Cloggs competition.

I had £100 to play with and it literally took me weeks to decide what to order with my voucher. I had always fancied a pair of Dr Martens but never felt brave enough! They are quite bold and I think they tend to give off a ‘goth’ vibe and I always felt they wouldn’t really go with my girly style. So, I toyed between Uggs, Dr Martens and other great brands on Cloggs until Christmas was fast approaching and I had to make a decision (I wanted something stylish to keep me warm in the snow).

Primark Sheer Sleeves

Sheer Sleeves

During one of my weekly shopping trips to the amazing Primark, I discovered a stunning little cream dress amongst the rails of autumn items. I was drawn to it because it was a dress with long sleeves which I thought would keep me warm and look quiet classy. I picked up a size 8 to try on…

Rimmel London Finalist!

2

Wow…I can’t actually believe my luck! I have just found out that I am one of two finalists in a Rimmel London competition!

My task was to create a 30 second video showing my make-up tip for this Autumn/Winter, ahead of London Fashion Week. Well, I just know rusts, oranges and warm peachy colours will be in this coming season so headed down to the shops to pick up Rimmel’s newly launched Autumn Catwalk 3 in 1 blusher – perfect. It was hard to video this in only 30 seconds though….which is why I sound so rushed! I just had to add in the Heather Shimmer classic lipstick too! An old fave of most girls my age…the video doesn’t show it too well, but it realy does brighten up pale skin.

So, I have until midday Saturday 11th September to win! All I have to do is get the most LIKES on YOU TUBE! Here’s a link…http://bit.ly/9iyDfQ

Please help me fans…x

Warehouse Dress

My online quest with Warehouse

0

Way back in May 2010 I was wandering around Leeds city centre on a sunny Saturday and thought i’d take a look in Warehouse. This isn’t a shop I usually visit, but as I walked towards the store I saw some lovely, bright colours that tempted me in. I was instantly drawn to a rail of maxi dresses and one in particular … the jungle maxi dress.

There was only one left….a 12, so even though I’m an 8/10 I thought why not try it on. Here’s a piccie of me in the changing room! It looked perfect from the front, but the back was way too big so I needed at least a 10.

Check out Topshops new look at The White Rose centre in Leeds. This once busy, fussy looking store has been transformed into a shopping treat for all young trend setters! There is a huge section for shoes which have been displayed perfectly. Oh, and a new make-up range…has anyone tried Topshop make-up yet?

Recent Fashion & Beauty Bargains

2

I’ve been wandering around the high street stores recently to pick out some bargains to share with you all.

There are plenty to be had at The White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds. With a great range of shops from Debenhams to Zara and they all had something to offer when I visited at the weekend.

First of all, La Senza have a huge sale on right now with a huge range of bras for £5 plus some beautiful pants and thongs at 5 for £5!!! Definitely worth a trip…the underwear there is the best quality I’ve ever had and wash and wear really well. Just a little point to note on that though…the pants are rather small fitting so always buy the next size up…I find their medium fits perfectly and I’m a size 8!

Jeanealogy

Do you struggle to find the right jeans? The perfect fit coupled with on trend colour and style? Worry not people, I have found a new website that will help you on your quest! www.jeanealogy.co.uk

The thinking behind Jeanealogy is to take the pain out of buying jeans.  They test the styles and brands that the magazines recommend, to see if they work for real women and report back giving the lowdown on the fit, quality and value for money.

Take a look and let us know your thoughts!
